Please share the reason you are requesting this session. What are the specific concerns that you would like to address regarding your animal's aging or transition?
If concerned about your animal's health or comfort level, please share up to 3 questions here.
Examples:
~ "Is there anything that you need to feel comfortable?"
~ "I see you are walking with difficulty. Could you explain how you feel & what may be wrong?"
~ "Is there something I am doing that is not helpful or that you need more of?"
If asking about their preferences, such as what food they would like, please list the options they have to consider.
If your animal seems to be approaching transition, you can ask how they view the aging process & check on what kind of support & understanding they would like.
You can also ask focused questions, such as if they'd like to see specific people, visit a specific place before they pass, have a farewell gathering, etc.
To prepare for the time of transition, you can ask how & where your animal would be most comfortable passing, & if they would like you to be with them. You can also ask if they would like to signal that they are ready.
Examples:
~ "Would you like to be euthanized or to die naturally?"
~ "Would you like to be cremated or buried?"
~ "Where would you like your remains to rest?" (List possible locations.)
~ "Is there is anything special that I can place with your remains?"
Some animals appreciate being remembered in a ceremony or memorial—you can ask if they would like you to create a memorial or bring friends together to share memories & support.
Please write up to 5 ideas or feelings that you'd like to share with your animal.
For example: "Please know that I have loved you at every stage of your life & that I treasure being able to help you now."
"I respect you & appreciate how much you have taught me."
It is important that your own needs & concerns be considered at this time- your animal hopes that you feel supported, too. Please feel free to share any difficulties that you would like assistance with, as a caregiver & guardian.
